Client Reference: Kevin Klinkenberg, 180deg Design Studio
CharretteCenter staff participated in this open studio charrette in the Kansas City metro area's City of Independence, MO. The neighborhood was planned on the site of the aging 98 acre Rockwood Country Club. A range of single family detached and attached housing types fulfilled the developers' requirement of 5 units per acre while fitting into the existing surrounding context of small single family homes. Accessible green spaces are incorporated into the plan and water runoff issues are solved through the enhancing of existing waterways and design of a new retention pond. One of the fairways has been saved in the plan as a community green.
